The BHC A&E and UHWI Newborn have stepped up their facilities with the help of a local service organisation. They received multiparameter Analogic Lifegard vital signs monitors with carts, Medix Econoneb hospital nebulizers, wall diagnostic sets, a COSMO capnograph with digital pulse oximeter, handheld digital Novametrix pulse oximeters, GreenSpec fiber optic laryngoscopes, ASENA syringe pumps, Medix phototherapy lights, a Mortara ELI 250ij with cart and additional items. Training of BHC medical staff took place yesterday and will continue over the next few weeks.

Well the installation and testing of the sleep study unit was completed and had it's first two patients. All went very smoothly, and the staff are extremely happy with the user interface and ease of operation. Additional equipment are to be added by September to include CPAP. Patient video capture/monitoring is exceptional. Offering high, colour detail, and IR black and white at night. The facility is "first world standard", ensuring patient comfort. The grand opening is planned within the next few weeks.

Quite a lot has been happening. We are in the process of install equipment for sleep studies. It will be the first of its kind in the English speaking Caribbean. The unit will feature state of the art equipment with installation and technical training scheduled for mid June.

Yesterday we did a workshop on the new Body Composition Analyser in the Dietary department at UHWI, Mona. head of the department, Ms. Hamilton was present and was keen on the features and ease of use that the unit offered. Senior assistant Nabeeha Dennis, dietician Melanie Blake and other staff members participated in the workshop. It was a pleasure working with them as they were enthusiastic and attentive, as was clearly indicated by their questions. We will be revisiting with the group shortly to provide information that they requested.
