Remember that an integral part of attaining sterilizing items is the cleaning, lubricating and packing process. Removal of bulk debris, the use of enzyme detergents, lubricants (suitable for use with steam), pouches, wraps, etc all play their part. Leaving out any of these steps could mean an item not attaining sterility.
