In a recent test we compared the new performer with other fetal (foetal) detectors that we offer from other brands including the Sonicaid® and Huntleigh®. We found that we were able to detect the fetal heart much more readily than the other brands; the acoustic quality was significantly better. We were actually able to clearly hear the fetal (foetal) heart sounds as opposed to the traditional distorted crackling you got from the other brands. The two piece format is still the best format; this is confirmed by many of the manufacturers that went to a one piece format returning to the two piece format. The one piece format like the Sonicaid® 121 suffered badly from accidental drops from the user, as this 9 times out of 10 cracked the transducer resulting in a repair cost close to the cost of purchasing a new unit.
